The New Apostolic Reformation, a neo-Pentecostal Christian movement with strong ties to GOP Presidential candidate Rick Perry, plans to “lay siege” for 40 days on Washington D.C. to change the District of Columbia into the District of Christ and eliminate compromise in our government. Events to take place in each state in turn, Minnesota’s date is October 21st. Pagans organizing to counter the malefic magic.

The Reformation Prayer Network, led by Cindy Jacobs, and the Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network, headed by John Benefiel, have joined together to produce a nation-wide event called “DC40.″ Jacobs and Benefiel are national endorsers for GOP Presidential hopeful Rick Perry’s The Response. The goal of DC40 is to effect “eternal change in our nation’s capitol so our elected officials can govern from a new position of uncompromising light and understanding as we change the spiritual atmosphere over Washington DC forever.”  This effort is variously named DC40, Forty Days of Light Over D.C., and 51 Days of Reformation Intercession.

The change DC40 hopes to make is electing leaders who fear the Christian God and “find that compromise is not the way” as it is impossible to “compromise with unrighteousness.”  The “uncompromising light” refers to a statement released by Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network, which says God’s word should be the legal authority in the United States and Christians should acknowledge no other,  “no power to purpose or accept any compromise of the promises of God, and we declare illegal in the earth any action or any people, Nation or nations that undertake what is contradictory to the Word of God.”

One century scarce perform'd its destined round,
When Gallic powers Columbia's fury found;
And so may you, whoever dares disgrace
The land of freedom's heaven-defended race!
Fix'd are the eyes of nations on the scales,
For in their hopes Columbia's arm prevails.

I say, we pray to the goddess for the same thing. After all, whose to say that the enlightenment that comes will be in tune with Christianity. They believe it to be so, but as all we pagans know, when you pray you are answered and not always the answer you want.

Let us pray for the light of enlightenment to come forth, our founding fathers wouldn't mind that. Let us change the atmosphere into the light of acceptance, love, peace, and willingness to work.

They think they are going to light some sort of christian holy fire, they may get a sparkling rainbow of understanding instead.

Very well put. I think way too many people are in serious need of enlightenment these days. Namaste.

Comic Book Christians. At least when Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies tried to raise the Pentagon into the air they knew it was a farce.

Jesus that’s insanity! Nothing like zealots to take things too far. Im sure they would be all to happy to revive those age old, time honoured traditions such as The Inquisitions, punishment “Old Testment style” and so on. Lunatics!

I just read this on the FB page...too crazy...talk about spreading negativity...Was about to seed the article myself when this popped up already...good job DD...

But, it does seem like the Pagans are getting up to the challenge...think supportive thoughts for our brothers and sisters in those affected locales...

We had to postpone our monthly meeting because our "get together" planner lost her husband late last week, so we decided to table everything for a couple of weeks. But other group members are looking into accommodations for that time period and are reaching out to other groups so maybe if we can band together we can have representatives throughout the 40 days.

So you shared the news with them...good...Awesome response on their part...

Had they heard about this before you brought it to their attention?

Some had and some hadn't. I think the thing that disturbs them the most is the thought of putting Christ into anything national, not only insults the pagans, but many other religions as well.

The really funny thing is, I doubt many pagans ever honored "Columbia". She's not a historic goddess. She's about as pagan as "Uncle Sam".

It is funny, since there are so many other 'positive' things a group of 'Christian's' could be doing to help the needy in their own communities...But, that is the point I guess...

Why are the Christians then making such a big deal about the 're-naming' DC if she 'wasn't' such a big deal to begin with?...IDK...to me it's part of their theocratic takeover attempt here in the US...(I posted a seed recently about that)...

By this very 'cause' they are generating and promoting they are giving more publicity to the 'symbol' of Columbia.

It's related to the theocratic takeover attempt, but specifically it's what the Dominionist "Christian" groups refer to as "strategic-level spiritual warfare"... I think this is one of the clearest articles about it: http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/orrel8.html

What an interesting article about the historical roots of certain action's that are practiced now...which aren't even biblical, but still acceptable by those believer's...

So basically, the group in the seed article are blindly following a set of actions that were promoted (and changed since),... by a group that was 'disbanded' almost 50 years ago (per your link)...interesting...Are people really this blinded by 'belief' they don't question the fact that what they are doing isn't preached in the bible?...

Oh yes. People are very blinded by belief. In fact, if you questioned them about it, they'd swear up and down that the practice is biblical and be able to cite passage after passage to support themselves. In that respect, it's no different than the people who argued for the biblical "curse of ham" or "serpent seed theology" to justify racial prejudices during the periods of slavery and later segregation in this country.

Actually, you see such attitudes even to this day in the popular Christian view of homosexuality. Most modern Christian denominations would cite passages such as Deuteronomy Chapter 23, Verse 17 as a condemnation of homosexuality: "There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel." In point of fact, however, this verse has been mistranslated and originally referred to male and female temple prostitutes; a common practice among the pagan religions of the region at that time. This is clearly seen simply by reading the next verse: "Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God." A dog, in this context, is a clear euphemism for a male temple prostitute. As such, it's fairly clear that this verse bears no relation to homosexuality as we understand it today. But try convincing most Christians of that fact, and you'll quickly see the same blind faith in what they have been taught to believe as you do with the Dominionists and strategic level spiritual warfare.

I've seen it...I agree...it is something that when it's explained to these people, they still choose to ignore it...amazing...

The question becomes this: is it merely willful IGNORANCE, or just "I don't give a @!$%#" on the attitude? What is so incredibly difficult to understand about the founding fathers TRUE intent that we are in fact a SECULAR nation and NOT a Christian one?!

More and more of these stories popping up, like a pimple on prom night, and as much as logic comes to the rescue it still keeps occurring. The Religious Reich is now going to attempt to ban this.. or that.. or the other. Never been a factor before now- Never been an ISSUE before now but suddenly this MUST be discussed b/c "our country is failing and moving away from what Jebus intended for it to be!". Has anyone ever SEEN this insane push on abortion issues? Not since Roe v. Wade has this become such a topic and the sheer ridiculous number of law TWEAKS being shoved through various states congresses rivals a rapid loading chain gun! I'm going to borrow a line from a humorous little tune here- (and feel free to look it up on youtube.. hilarious!) Keep Your Jesus Off My Penis.

"It's just believers in the bible that would have abortion banned.

Anti choice Agnostics I can count em on ONE HAND."

The country is rapidly going to hell in a handbasket but it IS NOT b/c we're getting away from biblical principles. It comes back to what the Teapuglicans ran on in the first place (rapidly becoming the "Big Lie"-)

a laser like focus on jobs jobs jobs!

Maybe... just maybe, instead of kowtowing to special interest groups and bible thumpers, SOME ppl in congress need to get back to doing the damn job they were ELECTED for in the first place. (and leave the BIBLE OUT OF IT!)

Well since I'm a Wiccan does this mean that I can go around and protest the cross and pictures of Jesus and Mary? Or is it only Christians that are allowed to protest?

Sure go ahead...but they should be only if they are on 'public property' or as part of a 'government action'...

Such as this article that tells of Rabbi's and others in opposition to an attempt by Florida that have 'proposed' to pay for 'religious institutions' in their state constitution....

http://carloz.newsvine.com/_news/2011/07/30/7204349-florida-rabbis-join-campaign-to-stop-effort-to-allow-state-funding-of-religion

Or, you could throw your support in with the atheists in their suit against the 'cross' going up in the WTCmuseum...I feel if they include one 'religion' then ALL religions/no religions should have equal access (and size)...otherwise...they shouldn't allow any...I call it the 'all or nothing' approach...
